SB Storage Device
USB (Universal Serial Bus) devices are very popular and easy to use. These thumb devices are useful for:
- Making back-up copies of important information
- Transporting data between two computers
- Copying information to give to someone else
- Securing information that you don't want
anyone else to access
To find the USB port on your computer, look at the back of the tower for older models, and in the front for newer computers. The USB port is a small thin opening about ½ " long. It has no obvious pins or pinholes. It is often, but not always, marked "USB.” Some of the newer computers have two USB ports.
Installing the USB device
If you are using your USB device for the first time, just plug the key into your computer port. The software will automatically load and activate the device.
Using the USB Device
The USB is a Plug and Play storage device.
Safely Remove Hardware
Even though USB devices are Plug & Play ... ready to go. Do not unplug them. The power jolt caused by unplugging a "hot" connection can corrupt data.
To shut down properly, click "Safely Remove Hardware" button down in the system tray. It looks like a rectangle with a green arrow.
You'll be given a list of USB devices that are active. Highlight the one you want to remove and click. When the power shuts off Windows will tell you that it is safe to remove the device.
